Matt Grant is a product-minded software engineer, civic organizer, and builder focused on turning complex systems—technical, political, and social—into things people can actually use.
By day, Matt designs and builds backend software services and data-intensive systems, with experience shipping scalable, real-world products in cross-functional environments. He’s especially drawn to ambiguous problem spaces where thoughtful engineering, clear ownership, and practical impact matter more than buzzwords.
Outside of work, Matt is deeply involved in civic engagement and democracy-building in Rhode Island. He serves in leadership roles with local and statewide organizations, organizing public actions, facilitating dialogue across political divides, and building the digital infrastructure that helps movements grow and sustain themselves.
He’s also an active creator—writing, shipping side projects, and experimenting at the intersection of technology, transparency, and culture.
Selected projects & work:
Bellevue Boards - Husband to owner Jackie, "cardboard man," and Chief Everything Else Officer (CEEO), responsible for anything that is required of me to keep the business running.
Ink & Algorithm – Writing on technology, civic life, and the human systems behind both.
Civic organizing & digital infrastructure – Ongoing work with organizations like the Newport Democratic City Committee, the Rhode Island Alliance of Braver Angels, and the Coalition for Newport Hospital Birthing Center.
Integrity Index – A data platform tracking political finance and financial disclosures to increase transparency and accountability.
PostPilot – An AI-assisted social media automation tool for civic and advocacy organizations.
Poké Pulse Pro – A fast, collector-focused Pokémon TCG companion app for managing collections and pricing intelligence.
Matt believes good systems—whether software or society—are built with care, clarity, and an insistence that they serve real people.
